Stars of David tags in Paris linked to pro-Russia interference: reports

The Stars of David found painted in several locations in Paris last week are likely part of a destabilization operation tied to a pro-Russia businessman.Four people — including a Moldovan couple arrested last week — are suspected of painting more than 250 blue Stars of David across the French capital, likely to sow unrest in France amid a surge of antisemitic acts since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau on Tuesday said a judge had been appointed to lead an investigation into the tags, adding it “could not be excluded that the tagging … was carried out at the explicit request of someone living abroad.”An investigation by Le Monde showed that news of the tagging was amplified via social media accounts affiliated with Doppelgänger — a wide-ranging online operation associated with Russian disinformation campaigns. “Phone searches suggest that both pairs of authors were in relation to the same third person,” the prosecutor said in a written statement share...No injuries after large fire breaks out at Peabody home

FOXBORO — There were warning signs this summer that the Patriots offense wasn’t suddenly going to turn from inept into a juggernaut. But it was also easy to ignore them — the early-summer red-zone struggles, quarterback Mac Jones’ inability to hit a receiver deep in stride, JuJu Smith-Schuster’s quiet camp, persistent pressure from a battered and constantly shifting offensive line — with the sheer amount of optimism emanating from Patriots players with a seemingly competent offensive coordinator taking over for Matt Patricia and Joe Judge in Bill O’Brien. Players were smiling. Offensive players were hyping up Jones’ progress. The team was celebrating in practice and having fun. The stink of 2022 had worn off and the unit was starting anew by challenging what was expected to be a stout defense before injuries changed those plans.Related ArticlesNew England Patriots | Patriots CB J.C. If David Axelrod said it, you know Barack Obama is thinking it.And that is the thought to dump Joe Biden. Or, more precisely, to get the incredibly shrinking Joe Biden not to run for re-election.The polls show that people believe he, among other things, is just too old for the job. Biden turns 81 on Nov. 20.Joe Biden’s presidency is in many ways Barack Obama’s third term, and Biden has made a mess of it, despite surrounding himself with Obama holdovers.Ever concerned about his legacy, Obama in 2020 never wanted Biden to run for president in the first place. “You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” Obama told Biden back then.Obama did not endorse Biden in the primaries and only came aboard Biden’s candidacy after Biden had secured the nomination.Obama also told intimates, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to (mess) things up.”And Joe Biden has, which is why he is underwater in the polls. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong — the disastrous Afghan pullout, open b...Massachusetts lawmakers considering using convention centers as overflow sites for migrants, homeless families

Massachusetts state lawmakers are considering using convention centers like the Hynes in downtown Boston as an overflow site for homeless and migrant families waiting for emergency shelter, the top House Democrat said Wednesday.Emergency shelters in the state are expected to reach the Healey administration’s self-imposed capacity of 7,500 families this week, and House lawmakers have proposed shuttling $50 million to the creation of an overflow site for families who are placed on a state-run waitlist.House Speaker Ronald Mariano said officials have discussed “a lot of different options” when asked if the Hynes Convention Center or other similar locations have been floated as potential locations.“All those things could be in play. All of those we suggested,” he told reporters at the State House. “We talked about a lot of different options. There are plenty in the state and it’s up to (the Healey administration) as to how many we need. Do we need one? If we have Hynes, will that ...The third GOP debate will focus on Israel and foreign policy but also on who could beat Donald Trump

By MICHELLE L. PRICE and JILL COLVIN (Associated Press)MIAMI (AP) — Foreign policy and the Israel-Hamas war are expected to be prominent in Wednesday’s third Republican primary debate, as a narrowing field of candidates seeks to cut into Donald Trump’s lead without being able to challenge the former president in person.Trump will again skip the debate in Miami, instead holding a rally in a nearby suburb. He says he won’t participate due to his large lead in national and early state polls. With voting set to start in leadoff Iowa in January, no one has thus far been able to shake Trump’s dominance of the Republican primary. Many of the candidates have gone after each other hoping to break out as a viable alternative to the former president, emphasizing their differences on foreign policy but also ripping Trump for his criticisms of the Israeli prime minister and claims that a group attacking Israel was “very smart.”Republican strategist David ...These San Diego-area cities among fastest-growing wealthy suburbs in US: study
