EDWARDSVILLE, Ill — Two suspects accused of murder will be spending time in jail awaiting their trial. In July 2023, the Illinois Supreme Court decided to stop using cash bail. Since September 18, 2023, Illinois courts haven't used the cash bail system. Now, before a trial, an accused person can wait outside of jail for their trial under specific conditions instead of staying in custody.Carlose G. Mosley, 23, of Belleville, is set to remain in custody until his trial date. Madison County State’s Attorney, Tom Haine, filed a petition requesting Mosley's continued custody, citing concerns about public safety and flight risk due to the nature of his alleged crime. Associate Judge Ryan Jumper granted his petition.Charged with first-degree murder on Thursday, November 9, Mosley is accused in connection with the stabbing death of Tyrese L. Owens of Collinsville. DELLWOOD, Mo - A Dellwood man is arrested for shooting a person walking down the street. The police arrested Freddie Leopold, 29, from Dellwood, a suspect in the shooting, on November 14. He is being charged with assault. The judge set his bond as cash only at $100,000.Leopold shot a man while he was walking on the 1700 block of Foley Drive on November 14, 2023, according to a North County Police investigation. According to the police, Leopold shot the victim unprovoked.The officers found the victim at his home and saw a gunshot wound to his chest. The officers also saw that bullets had hit two homes down the street. Leopold's home had spent shell casings and unused ammunition near it. A San Bernardino man is behind bars and another man is sought after they allegedly tied a husky to a tree and killed it in Muscoy on Tuesday.Leobardo Martinez, 68, and another man are accused of tying up the dog after it "entered Martinez' property and allegedly killed his fowl," the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. After tying it up, Martinez and the other man "struck it with a machete and large piece of wood until it died," authorities said.Martinez faces a charge of felony cruelty to animals and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $30,000 bail.He is due to appear in San Bernardino Superior Court Thursday afternoon.Investigators are working to identify the second man.Anyone with information is asked to contact the SBSD Central Station Detective Bureau at 909-387-3545. A man already facing robbery charges has been arrested on suspicion of killing a 68-year-old man in his yard in a drive-by shooting in Riverside last month, the Riverside Police Department announced Wednesday, Nov. 15.Police don’t know the motive for the shooting, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a Riverside Police Department spokesman.On Nov. 7, Gabriel Molina, a 29-year-old from Riverside, was arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing Michael Rangel, a Riverside resident.
